Liberty Fire performs the full gamut of
Emergency Services from one staffed emergency response station located in
the City Limits of Liberty, South Carolina. The station is located in the
center of our coverage area. Due to location and manpower, Liberty Fire is
able to respond to over 90% of our calls in under 7 minutes.
Liberty
Fire is primary response to the following situations:
Fire

Liberty Fire responds to
structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, wild land fires, and any other
location where uncontrolled fire takes place. While all the engine
companies are equipped and trained to fight structure fire, the
department also maintains a team of individuals with specialized
training and equipment for wild land firefighting.
Medical
First Response
As a First Response
Department Liberty Fire is often called upon to assist Pickens County
EMS. All Liberty firefighters are required to maintain at least the
minimum medical certification of South Carolina DOT First Responder
level. This certification provides for basic level medical care
including, but not limited to, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED
(Automatic Heart Defibrillation), first aid for basic injuries.
Rescue

Liberty Fire responds to a
vast variety of rescue situations. To list a few are automobile
extrication and other transportation related rescues; building collapse
and other confined spaces; also heavy machinery entrapment.
HAZMAT
(Hazardous Materials) Response

Response to and the
mitigation of the unplanned release of dangerous chemicals into the air,
ground, or water. To be able to provide this service, the department has
several members who specialize in HAZMAT operations. These specialists
have the Hazmat Technician Certification, while all other firefighters
at a minimum are trained in HAZMAT ops.
Public
Service Calls for Help
These conditions include
occurrences such as downed power lines, faulty appliances, and other
items causing sparks resulting in the potential for endangering people.
Additionally Liberty Fire makes occasional animal rescues, always offers
assistance for the disabled, and children trapped in cars.
These are just a few
examples of the wide variety of emergencies that occur in a fire
district the size of Liberty.
